University of Massachusetts Boston - Department of Applied Linguistics Full-time Non-Tenure Track Lecturer in Multilingual Teacher Education Job Description The Department of Applied Linguistics at UMass Boston invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position starting September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will teach three graduate courses per semester and provide service and mentoring related to ESL Licensure ( ). Required Qualifications: A doctoral degree (or candidacy) in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field. At least two years of experience teaching graduate-level courses. Experience in K-12 ELL instruction and/or teacher education for K-12 ELL instructors. Experience providing professional development to pre-service and in-service teachers. Knowledge of MA DESE regulations. Responsibilities: Serve as liaison between the Department and DESE, reviewing standards to ensure licensure compliance. Establish and maintain partnerships with schools to facilitate student placements. Review student applications for practicum and secure placements. Present licensure information sessions each semester. Maintain the Licensure Handbook. Advise students seeking licensure endorsement and coordinate with the licensure officer. Pre-Practicum and Practicum Roles: Act as liaison between the Department and local schools for ESL licensure internships. Conduct site observations and provide feedback to student teachers.
